Meet the Director Ko Olina

Aloha Seagull Schools Ko Olina ʿOhana,
Born, raised, and rooted in the communities of Kaneohe and Waimanalo on the island of Oʿahu, I am truly honored to learn, grow, and work with the Ko Olina and West Oʿahu communities.
After graduating from Punahou School, I received a BA in Speech Communication from the University of Hawaiʿi at Manoa where I am currently a MEd candidate in the Early Childhood Education Curriculum Studies program.
I entered the field of early childhood education at the age of 18 as a part time Teacher’s Aide. My career path consists of a range of classroom and administrative roles focused on early learning within the following settings: private (Kamehameha Schools), nonprofit (Partners in Development Foundation), Federal (Head Start) and state (Office of Hawaiian Affairs and Department of Education). Most recently, I served as a Workforce Development Program Specialist with the State of Hawaiʿi Executive Office on Early Learning. These experiences allow me to view children, families, and the field of early learning through a broad and diverse lens.
My educational philosophy is that every learner regardless of age, setting, or grade level, deserves to be provided with a safe, strengths based, individually responsive, equitable, and accessible high quality environment grounded in community, ethics, and values. This philosophy not only drives my passion on a professional level, but on a personal level as a mother of two young men (ages 18 and 20).
Thank you for your support of Seagull Schools and for choosing us as a partner in your child’s lifelong learning journey.
