About This Campus

Seagull’s Kapolei campus opened in 1995 on land the school owns, purpose-built for early education. With a licensed capacity of 240 children ages 2 through 5, the campus features park-like grounds with fruit trees, solar panels, and naturally ventilated classrooms designed to keep children connected to the outdoors. Kapolei also holds a special place in Seagull’s history as the home of one of Hawai‘i’s first intergenerational programs, where keiki and kūpuna once learned and played side by side.

Meet the Director

Lisa Nakagawa-Soberano

Lisa Nakagawa-Soberano brings 20 years of classroom experience in early childhood education to her role as Kapolei's Director. She holds a bachelor's degree in Family Resources with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education. Her philosophy is simple: children learn best by doing, and her favorite part of the day is being in the classroom alongside them.

Lisa is passionate about creating a positive, nurturing environment where keiki build their foundation at their "first school" and develop a genuine love for learning and exploring. She's always looking for new ways to bring hands-on experiences into every classroom.

Outside of Seagull, Lisa is with her ʻohana. Beach days, camping, fishing, staycations, church functions, family game nights: they're always on the go, always making memories. Lisa starts every day with three things in mind: learn something new, make good choices, and be a good person.
