About This Campus

Seagull’s Kailua campus is where it all started. Operating on the Windward side since the early 1970s, this is Seagull’s most intimate campus with 74 seats, serving children ages 2 through 5. Located on Kailua Road in the heart of Kailua town, the campus offers a close-knit community feel with small class sizes and strong relationships between families, teachers, and the neighborhood around them.

7:00am: School opens; activities set up in classrooms
7:30am: Light breakfast
8:25am: Breakfast cleanup
8:30am: Outdoor play
9:30am: Morning meetings, singing, review calendar, colors, shapes, and overview of the day
9:45am: Cognitive and learning center activities
11:00am: Outdoor paly, large muscle activities
11:30am: Lunch
12:30pm: Clean up
12:15pm: Rest time, independent reading, bathroom
12:30pm: Story time
1:00pm: Rest time
2:30pm: Wake up, put blankets away, bathroom, snack time

Meet the Director

Kana'i Bento

Kanaʻi Bento was born and raised in Honolulu and is a Kamehameha Schools graduate. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Master's in Education with a focus in Curriculum and Instruction and Early Childhood Education. She has been with Seagull Schools since 2011 and has worked in early childhood education since 2006.

At Seagull Kailua, her focus areas are social and emotional development, family engagement, and school readiness. She works closely with staff to create learning environments that are engaging, safe, and fun, and with families to help their children grow into strong, independent individuals.

In her free time, she's usually with her family, whether that's at the beach, on their boat, or exploring Hawaiʻi's outdoors.
